Ferran Torres' brace secured Spain U19 the title clinching victory against Portugal U19 in the UEFA European Under-19 Championship final.

Ferran Torres scored either side of half-time to lead Spain to victory over Portugal in the UEFA Under-19 European Championship on Saturday night.

Torres netted a lovely volley in the 34th minute and then pounced on a wayward cross in the Portugal penalty area shortly after half-time to secure the win for Spain.

Fernando Torres announces retirement

Spain's World Cup winning striker Fernando Torres announced his retirement from football on Friday, bringing an end to a glittering 18-year career.

Torres, who scored more than 100 goals across two spells at his boyhood club Atletico Madrid, also played for Premier League sides Liverpool and Chelsea and Italy's AC Milan.

He left Atletico to join Japan's Sagan Tosu in July last year but has struggled to hit the heights of his best days at Atletico and Liverpool at the J-League side.

Luis Enrique quits Spain for personal reasons

Spain announced on Wednesday afternoon that Luis Enrique has stepped down as coach of the national team because of personal reasons.

Enrique, 49, has been on a leave of absence since March 26, with his assistant Robert Moreno having guided La Roja in their past three Euro 2020 qualifiers. Moreno will replace Luis Enrique as head coach, Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) president Luis Rubiales announced.
