Liverpool's Joe Gomez has fractured lower leg, will be out six weeks

Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp was left aggravated after his side's 2-1 win over Burnley after Joe Gomez suffered from an injury which he feels came from the home side's rough tackling.
Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk spoke to ESPN about how he still feels he can reach another level at the club and that the team will achieve something special soon.

Liverpool have announced that Joe Gomez has suffered a fracture to his lower left leg and is set to be sidelined for around six weeks.

Gomez was carried off on a stretcher in the first half of Liverpool's 3-1 victory at Burnley on Wednesday night.

The defender was assessed by Liverpool's medical staff on Thursday, where scans confirmed a fracture.

"Liverpool can confirm Joe Gomez sustained a fracture to the lower left leg during the 3-1 win at Burnley on Wednesday night," a statement on the club's website said.

"Initial indications suggest the 21-year-old is facing a spell of up to six weeks out of action, though it's dependent on how his treatment and rehabilitation programmes progress."

Gomez went down following a challenge from Burnley's Ben Mee -- one of a number of tackles that left Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp unhappy.

"You get the ball, nice, but it's like bowling because you get the player as well," Klopp said at a news conference after the match.

"It happened four or five times, everybody likes it, but Joe is injured, and probably not only a little bit."

Gomez, who operates as a centre-back or right-back, has been one of Liverpool's best performers this season, making 18 appearances in all competitions.
