Juventus must find balance and defend as a unit to win sixth straight Scudetto

ESPN FC's Gab Marcotti examines the lessons Juventus should be taking from after their defeat at Fiorentina.

People have forgotten about it now, but in November there was a bit of a controversy when La Gazzetta dello Sport ran a story about a speech Gigi Buffon allegedly gave his Juventus teammates after a 1-1 draw with Lyon that month.

"In Serie A, they roll over. In Europe they don't," the pink claimed Buffon said. Understandably, Juventus swiftly issued a strongly worded denial and a couple of journalists sent to cover the champions' next game at the J Stadium were turned away.

The firmest rebuttal...

New minimalist Juventus logo sparks Twitter backlash from fans

As you may be aware, Juventus have proudly ditched the classic club crest that has served them well for the past 46 years in favour of a new, streamlined "logo."

The Bianconeri launched the new design at a ceremony in Milan on Monday night, with club president Andrea Agnelli heralding the logo as a "symbol of the Juventus way of living."

As you might expect, the general reaction has not been particularly favourable, with fans queuing up on social media to lambaste the minimalist 'J' badge.

Milan climb out of 2-0 deficit to earn away draw at tricky Torino

Milan were impressive in erasing a first-half deficit but should be aware that it won't always go this well.

AC Milan fought back from two goals down to claim a share of the spoils in a thrilling game at Torino on Monday night. Andrea Belotti and Marco Benassi put the hosts in charge in the first half, but two goals in five minutes after the interval, from Andrea Bertolacci and Carlos Bacca, ensured that the Rossoneri returned home with a point.

Milan showed great resolve and character in the second half to launch a fightback and secure a point. Although they put themselves in a difficult...

Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini caught out by physical Fiorentina side

Serie A leaders Juventus could not recover from a 2-0 deficit as Fiorentina came away with the home win.

Suffering yet another away defeat, Juventus were beaten 2-1 on Sunday by a mentally, physically and tactically superior Fiorentina side.

They have been dubbed inconsistent, even mentally fragile, but at home Fiorentina are a different outfit altogether.

Well prepared and well rehearsed, they played much like Juve did in the first half of the reverse fixture. Keen to win the battles, they commanded possession, pressed high up the pitch and played at a high tempo to overwhelm the opponent who looked...

Nainggolan, Strootman lead Roma to gritty win at Udinese

Radja Nainggolan's first-half goal was all Roma needed to beat Udinese and pull closer to Juventus at the top of table.

Roma closed the gap between them and Serie A leaders Juventus to just one point after their gritty 1-0 win at Udinese was followed up by a dramatic 2-1 win for Fiorentina over the Old Lady, but regardless of the result of that intense encounter the Giallorossi can be happy with their side's new-found ability to grind out results when not at their best.

The narrow victory at the Stadio Friuli was the second such win for Roma in as many weeks, and apart from one scrabbled first-half double save...

Mauro Icardi stars as Inter Milan come back to beat Chievo

Mauro Icardi scored the equaliser as Inter Milan came back to beat Chievo.

Inter did it again on Saturday night, overturning a deficit in the dying minutes to snag a fifth straight Serie A win. Having conceded against the run of play to that old fox Sergio Pellissier on 34 minutes, the Nerazzurri kept plugging away, with their hard running, dominant possession and attacking flair being rewarded when Mauro Icardi slid onto an Antonio Candreva cross to level the scores with 21 minutes to go. A frantic finish saw Ivan Perisic slip by his marker to power a shot past accomplice...
