Ventura named coach of Udinese

ROME, Dec 11 (Reuters) - Giampiero Ventura has been named as the new coach of Serie A Udinese.

The former Sampdoria, Lecce and Venezia coach has signed a two-year contract and will be presented to the press on Tuesday evening.

'We can confirm that Mr Ventura has joined the club and look forward to a successful reign under his command,' Udinese spokesman Guglielmo Querini told Reuters on Tuesday.

Ventura replaces Roy Hodgson, who left the club on Monday. Udinese are currently ninth in Serie A and face Parma in the Italian Cup on Tuesday evening.

Ventura led Lecce from Serie C to Serie A in successive seasons and also guided Cagliari into the top flight.
