Union de Santa Fe players will use Viagra for their Copa Sudamericana match against Independiente del Valle in Ecuador.

Argentine side Union de Santa Fe will use Viagra to combat altitude when they face Independiente del Valle in the Ecuadorian capital of Quito on Wednesday.

The match will take place at the Estadio Olimpico Atahualpa, which lies 2,850 metres above sea level.

Altitude has had an adverse effect on several teams in recent times -- with Argentina losing 6-1 away to Bolivia in a 2010 World Cup qualifier. But Union have prepared ahead, and will use the drug "Sildenafil" -- more commonly known as Viagra.

The dramatic Copa Libertadores semifinal between reigning champions Gremio of Brazil and Argentine giants River Plate went to a third leg.

Chile to host revamped '19 Copa Libertadores final; Peru gets Sudamericana

ASUNCION, Paraguay -- Chile has been chosen to host the final of the 2019 Copa Libertadores, the first to be played as a one-off game at a neutral venue, the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) said on Tuesday.

The game, South America's equivalent of the Champions League, will take place at the National Stadium in Santiago, probably in November next year.

Chapecoense's recovery from a plane crash that killed 19 players in 2016 and Barcelona's comeback win against Paris Saint-Germain are among the nominees for this year's Laureus World Sports Awards.
