Man City cleared by CAS over signing of Benjamin Garre

Manchester City have been cleared of breaching rules over the signing of Argentine teenager Benjamin Garre by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

The Premier League champions faced a potential transfer ban if CAS found them guilty of flouting transfer rules over the signing of Garre from Velez Sarsfield in 2016.

City signed Garre at the age of 16 but Velez claimed the move breached FIFA's rules over the signing of minors from outside the European Union.

Yamil Asad is heading for a return to Major League Soccer with D.C. United, sources with knowledge of the deal told ESPN FC.

D.C. United has agreements with Argentina club Velez Sarsfield to acquire Asad on an initial loan with an option to buy, as well as with Atlanta United, where Asad played last season on loan.

Former Manchester United and Real Madrid defender Gabriel Heinze is to be appointed as the new coach of Velez Sarsfield, the Argentine club have announced.
