Ex-Arsenal striker Adebayor signs for Paraguayan side Olimpia

Former Arsenal and Real Madrid striker Emmanuel Adebayor has completed a move to Paraguayan side Club Olimpia, the club announced on Tuesday.

Adebayor, who was without a club since leaving Turkish side Kayserispor in December, will reunite with former Manchester City teammate Roque Santa Cruz.

The pair previously spent 18 months together after signing for City in 2009 under then manager Mark Hughes.

Colombia replace Frank Fabra with Farid Diaz after World Cup training injury

Colombia have called up defender Farid Diaz to replace Frank Fabra, who tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during training in Italy on Saturday, in their World Cup squad.

Fabra, expected to be Colombia's starting left-back, was diagnosed with the injury Saturday morning after scans taken by the team's medical staff showed the tear, according to a statement from the Colombian FA.

Paraguay FA condemns Olimpia violence that left fans in hospital

Olimpia's game against Sol de America was called off after eight minutes.

The Paraguay Football Association (APF) has condemned the violence from some Olimpia fans that led to the suspension of their game against Sol de America and resulted in people being taken to hospital.

Sunday's game was called off after eight minutes when violence erupted between "ultra" fans at the Rio Parapiti stadium.

Olimpia players were seen urging the supporters to stop the fighting, with police saying that at least six Olimpia fans were taken to hospital with gun and knife wounds.

ASUNCION, Paraguay -- Paraguay striker Roque Santa Cruz says he's retiring from international football.

The 35-year-old forward announced on Tuesday that he will leave the national team after the World Cup qualifiers against Peru on Thursday in Asuncion and Bolivia next Tuesday in La Paz.
