Liverpool, Manchester United target Nottingham Forest teenager Matthew Bondswell

Liverpool and Manchester United are battling to sign 16-year-old Nottingham Forest defender Matthew Bondswell, sources close to the Championship club have told ESPN FC.

Left-back Bondswell has been a regular in Forest's under-18s side this season and has also excelled at England youth level.

Forest are determined to keep Bondswell but have so far been unable to agree a scholarship deal, with the player rejecting several offers.

That has alerted a number of Premier League clubs, with Liverpool and...

Veteran striker Aaron Wilbraham scored an 88th-minute winner as Bolton came from behind to preserve their Championship status with a dramatic 3-2 triumph over Nottingham Forest at the Macron Stadium.

Bristol City saw their play-off hopes ended by a 0-0 draw at Nottingham Forest - but it could have been even worse for Lee Johnson's men.

Aitor Karanka's side threw everything but the kitchen sink at the Robins but could not turn 25 efforts on goal into a single goal as Frank Fielding stood tall, with the keeper even saving a Lee Tomlin penalty.

Forest should have signed off the season at the City Ground with a comfortable win but saw Tomlin, Joe Lolley, Adlene Guedioura and Andreas Bouchalakis all...

Nottingham Forest left Barnsley fighting for Championship survival as Aitor Karanka's side cruised to a comfortable 3-0 success at the City Ground.

Lee Tomlin scored a spectacular goal of his own, before setting up another for Ben Brereton, and sub Apostolos Vellios netted a late third, as Karanka dealt a severe blow to his old friend, Tykes boss Jose Morais, who he worked alongside at Real Madrid under Jose Mourinho.

There was no favours to be done between friends here, as Forest won to leave Barnsley...

Aron Gunnarsson left it late to propel Cardiff back into the automatic promotion places with a 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest.

The midfielder saved the day with 15 minutes remaining to fire the goal that takes the Bluebirds to within two wins of promotion.

Sean Morrison gave the hosts the lead with a first-half header before Liam Bridcutt levelled things up five minutes after the break.

But Gunnarsson was in the right place at the right time to lift the hosts two points clear of Fulham.
