Graham Arnold rejects Hibernian job link: 'I am surprised to learn of the speculation'

Socceroos coach Graham Arnold has belatedly knocked back speculation suggesting he was interested in leaving the national team to coach in Scotland.

Arnold is overseas on leave after Australia's disappointing quarterfinal exit in their Asian Cup title defence.

Three days after an ESPN report emerged stating Arnold was interested in taking up the reins at Hibernian, the 55-year-old rebuffed the suggestion in an FFA statement.

"I am surprised to learn of the speculation," Arnold said. "We have just...

Melbourne City set to sign Jamie Maclaren, keep unsettled Bruno Fornaroli

Wantaway striker Bruno Fornaroli appears certain to be marooned at Melbourne City beyond Thursday's transfer deadline with no softening of the A-League club stance towards the Uruguayan.

Though Socceroos striker Jamie Maclaren is likely to sign in the next 24 hours and City hopeful of another attacker joining him, Fornaroli's path back to the first team appears in rubble.

And there's no likely exit route for the goal machine, deemed surplus to requirements by coach Warren Joyce as the English boss...

Australia manager Graham Arnold interested in Hibernian job - source

Australia boss Graham Arnold is interested in succeeding Neil Lennon as manager of Scottish Premiership side Hibernian, a source has told ESPN.

Reports surfaced on Friday that Lennon has been suspended by the club after an exchange with chief executive Leeann Dempster. Hibs confirmed in a short statement that he will not be in charge of Sunday's Premiership game against St Mirren.

Arnold, 55, has only been in charge of the Australia national team for six months, overseeing the defending Asian champions'...

Australia winger Martin Boyle ruled out of Asian Cup with knee injury

The Socceroos' Asian Cup defence has been rocked by a tournament-ending knee injury to promising winger Martin Boyle.

The Scottish-born Boyle picked up a knock in Sunday's 5-0 warm-up win over Oman, and scans on Monday confirmed the worst for coach Graham Arnold.

Boyle's withdrawal comes barely a week after key playmaker Aaron Mooy was ruled out for the tournament, with whiz kid Daniel Arzani erased before that also because of a knee injury.

The hammer blow leaves Arnold just four days to find...

Martin Boyle delighted to be playing for Australia: 'I'm extremely proud to represent this country'

Tim Cahill was given a rousing sendoff by the Australian fans and teammates during his final international appearance.

New Socceroos star Martin Boyle has passed the anthem test with flying colours, and he's still soaring following a huge first week of action for Australia.

Scottish-born Boyle, whose father was born in Sydney, made an instant impression in the Socceroos jersey with his direct running and nose for goal.

He laid on a late equaliser in his debut off the bench against South Korea last Saturday and scored two goals and set up the other in Australia's 3-0 win over Lebanon on Tuesday in his first start.
