Flamengo win Brazilian league while celebrating Copa Libertadores title

Flamengo celebrated their Copa Libertadores title the same day the were confirmed Brazilian league champs.

A day after winning their first Copa Libertadores in 38 years, Flamengo completed a rare double on Sunday when they secured the Brazilian league title after closest challengers Palmeiras lost 2-1 at home to Gremio.

The result leaves Flamengo an unassailable 13 points ahead of Palmeiras with four games of the Serie A season remaining.

Frank de Boer has said Gabigol, Flamengo's Copa Libertadores hero, was known as "Gabi-no-gol" while the two were together at Inter Milan during the 2016-17 season.

Gabigol, who is on loan from Inter, scored twice in the 89th and 92nd minute as Flamengo came back from a goal down to beat River Plate 2-1 in the Copa Libertadores final on Saturday.
