UEFA president warns Brexit could jeopardise European football in UK

Shaka Hislop makes the argument that a departure from the Champions League could help Barcelona's La Liga title chances.

United Kingdom's exit from the European Union could cause a "serious problem" with visa issues, UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin has warned, while suggesting Barcelona's Neymar and Lionel Messi could already face difficulties.

In November, Paris Saint-Germain's Serge Aurier was unable to face Arsenal in the Champions League after the player was denied entry to the UK because of his ongoing appeal against a "convertible" two-month prison sentence.

Ceferin, who also serves as a FIFA vice president,...

U.S. travel ban would hurt 2026 World Cup bid - UEFA chief

ESPN FC's Herculez Gomez weighs the pros and cons of a 2026 World Cup joint-bid between the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

The United States would struggle to win a bid to host the 2026 World Cup should U.S. President Donald Trump succeed in imposing a travel ban, says UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin.

Ceferin, who heads up the sport's governing body in Europe and also serves as a FIFA vice president, said any measures that would stop players, fans or journalists from attending such an event would put any bid at risk.

The United States, Canada and Mexico have begun informal talks about making a three-way bid to host...

Liverpool and Tottenham also banked more than €3m ($3.24m) from the UEFA fund of more than €150m ($162m).

UEFA says 641 European clubs from 54 countries were paid for providing players to national-team squads in qualifying matches and the tournament in France.

UEFA president demands 'at least' 16 World Cup places from 2026

The FC crew debate whether Marco van Basten should have made rule proposals public, and how they would impact the game.

UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin has demanded that Europe be given at least 16 of the 48 places at the expanded 2026 World Cup, telling Die Welt: "We are not just another continental association."

The FIFA Council rubber-stamped plans to expand the World Cup as of 2026, adding 16 nations, and the governing body is expected to confirm by May how many of the extra places will go to each continent, with the African and Asian associations expecting significant increases.

Europe currently has 13 places...

UEFA to review policy on fans' political protest as Barcelona drop appeal

Barcelona will not appeal their fine for pro-Catalonian independence flags to CAS.

Football fans could win more freedom to make political protests at stadiums in a UEFA review of its disciplinary rules.

Europe's governing body wants existing rules which prohibit non-football statements to "evolve to reflect the nature of the society in which we live."

UEFA's statement on Monday follows Barcelona dropping a Court of Arbitration for Sport appeal against fines imposed for fans supporting Catalonian independence.

It was published as FIFA drew criticism in Britain for upholding its...
