Willian and Marco Verratti part of Jose Mourinho's Man United overhaul

Clubs are slowly turning their eyes toward the summer window, and Transfer Talk has the updates on all the latest rumours.

Mourinho outlines transfer plans

It's set to be another summer of change at Manchester United, as Jose Mourinho looks to overhaul his squad following a somewhat disappointing season.

The Red Devils were knocked out of the Champions League by Sevilla on Tuesday and stand a whopping 16 points behind Manchester City in the Premier League, leaving Mourinho facing criticism for his perceived negative tactics.

The United manager aims to add four new faces before the 2018-19 campaign kicks off, according to the Independent, with a new centre-back partner for Eric Bailly and a holding midfielder at the top of his list.

Barcelona's Samuel Umtiti and Tottenham's Toby Alderweireld are thought to have been discussed in the corridors of power at Old Trafford, while Paris Saint-Germain's Marco Verratti is another player Mourinho admires.

The Sun claims in-form Chelsea forward Willian is being lined up for a £60 million switch after Mourinho instructed his scouts to watch the Brazilian, who played for him when he managed at Stamford Bridge, on several occasions this season.

The Daily Mirror has a different take on the current crisis at United, however, suggesting that the club's hierarchy could be ready to find a new manager after seeing little reward for a £300 million outlay over the past 18 months.

Mourinho insists that more spending is required to keep up with Manchester City, leading to a potential fallout that could pave the way for him to join PSG in the summer.

United pair linked with exits

As well as possible new arrivals at Old Trafford, two first-team regulars are linked with departures once more in the latest gossip.

David De Gea is yet to extend his contract at the club beyond 2019, as Marca claims the Spaniard's ambitions conflict with United's performances this season.

Real Madrid remain in pole position to sign De Gea as they continue to scour the market for a new goalkeeper to replace Keylor Navas.

Meanwhile, Phil Jones is also edging toward the exit door as Everton monitor the defender's situation, the Daily Mail reports.

Jones' contract also expires in 2019, with Sam Allardyce keen on a reunion with the 26-year-old after awarding him his debut at Blackburn in 2009.

Liverpool's Can hopes fading

It looks as though Liverpool will struggle to hold on to Emre Can when his contract expires at the end of the season.

The Germany international has been strongly linked with Juventus in recent months, and the Daily Mirror now says that Bayern Munich will rival the Serie A champions for Can's signature.

The midfielder is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs at any stage, though it is thought that his agent has postponed further transfer talks until the summer.

Liverpool are still desperate to keep Can and hope an encouraging end to the season, especially in the Champions League, could convince him to stay.

Tap-ins

-- Should they fail to prise Jones from Manchester United, Everton will move for Basel centre-back Leo Lacroix, according to The Sun. The 26-year-old Switzerland international featured in his team's recent win against Manchester City and is valued at around £7.5 million.

-- Another player linked with Manchester United is Benfica midfielder Anderson Talisca, TalkSport reports. The 24-year-old was a surprise call-up to the Brazil squad this week and would cost around £35 million after enhancing his reputation during a loan spell with Besiktas.

-- Chelsea are plotting to bring in Juventus full-back Kwadwo Asamoah on a free transfer in the summer, reports The Sun. The 29-year-old is out of contract in June and is also on the radar of Napoli, Inter Milan and Galatasaray.
