Manchester City unveil unique fonts for International Champions Cup

Manchester City will wear special Manchester-themed names and number fonts on their shirts for their International Champions Cup games in the United States.

A specially designed font has been designed, inspired by the mosaic floor of the Victorian-era Manchester Town Hall, and will include the iconic "worker bee" symbol of the city.

The worker bee took on extra importance when it became a symbol of the city's spirit following the Manchester Arena bombing in which 23 people were killed in May 2017.

The shirts will be used in City's first game of the preseason against Borussia Dortmund in Chicago on Friday, and customised shirts will be available through the club with proceeds going to the We Love MCR Charity.

"Manchester is a city with a great sense of identity and I know players and fans will be proud to wear shirts with such a symbolic design on them," Manchester City's chief operating officer, Omar Berrada, said. "We would like to thank Manchester City Council for their support with this project and look forward to raising funds for the city through the We Love MCR Charity."
