Copa Libertadores trophy has club's name misspelled on winners' plaque

Fans from all over the world converged on Madrid to watch the Copa Libertadores final. Here's the best of the best from a historic day of football.

CONMEBOL did not win any fans in Argentina when football's governing body in South America last month decided to move the return leg of the Copa Libertadores final out of the country.

They have lost even more since the trophy was awarded to River Plate after Sunday's 3-1 triumph over bitter arch-rivals Boca Juniors in Madrid.

CONMEBOL's tweet of a photo of the Copa Libertadores trophy, the plinth of which has plaques of all the previous winners, alerted everyone to a mistake.

The current winners'...

Thierry Henry gives Monaco player killer stare for not tucking chair in

Monaco's Thierry Henry and Benoit Badiashile
Thierry Henry shot Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile a look that said 'see me after class'.

Thierry Henry has hardly enjoyed a dream return to Monaco having kicked off his managerial career at his former club with just two wins from his first 10 games.

Henry's side may be mired in the Ligue 1 relgation zone, but at least the ex-Arsenal striker is attempting to instil a bit of fatherly discipline amongst his young squad, if footage caught by Canal+ at the end of a news conference ahead of Tuesday's Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund is anything to go by.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp immortalised in mural form as Everton fans complain

A giant mural of Jurgen Klopp has gone up in Liverpool in tribute to the Reds' manager.

The finishing touches are still being applied to the 16ft portrait, though it has already begun to provoke strong reaction from fans on both sides of the Merseyside divide.

The mural is located on Jamaica Street in the Baltic Triangle area of the city -- a former industrial nook that has since been re-purposed as a "cutting-edge destination where pioneering creatives work and play."

While Liverpool fans have...

Neil Warnock next in the 'I'm a Celebrity' jungle after Harry Redknapp?

Neil Warnock could be the next to eat something a bit odd.

Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock has divulged that he might be tempted into following fellow manager Harry Redknapp into the jungle as a future contestant on "I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!".

Redknapp is currently favourite to win the ITV2 reality game show which sees a group of celebrities forced to camp in the Australian rainforest and complete various, largely nauseating tasks to earn food and other such luxuries.

So far this series, Redknapp has eaten insects aplenty and even quaffed a...

Ex-Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger jokes: I win more trophies now than when I managed

Arsene Wenger added to his vast collection of trophies and honours this week after being presented with a lifetime achievement award by the League Manager's Association (LMA).

The former Arsenal boss was recognised for his "remarkable career in football management" at the LMA President's Dinner at Wembley on Thursday evening.

The Frenchman was presented with his award by England manager Gareth Southgate and accepted it with all the grace and good humour we've come to expect.

"Since I don't compete...

Marouane Fellaini pulls Matteo Guendouzi's hair; social media reacts exactly as you'd expect

The FC panel have a laugh at Unai Emery's remarks on Matteo Guendouzi and debate whether Marouane Fellaini deserves a ban for pulling Guendouzi's hair.
Manchester United and Arsenal played out an entertaining draw at Old Trafford, with Jesse Lingard scoring an equaliser for the hosts 74 seconds after the Gunners had regained the lead.
Craig Burley and Steve Nicol break down Manchester United's 2-2 draw with Arsenal in a game that the Gunners should have won.
The ESPN FC panel wonder why Manchester United supporters haven't made their voices heard over the direction their club has taken under Jose Mourinho
Manchester United's Jose Mourinho insists he is getting repeatedly frustrated by his side making the same mistakes every game but is happy with his side's spirit.

While hardly one for the purists, Manchester United and Arsenal served up an entertaining encounter on Wednesday evening as the two sides contested a frantic 2-2 draw at Old Trafford.

With the scores level and both teams chasing the game, United sent Marouane Fellaini on for the final 20 minutes in the hope that the midfielder's famed physical presence would make an impact.

Fellaini duly obliged, though perhaps not in the precise manner Jose Mourinho had envisaged.

Indeed, apparently overcome by...
